Hello family!
Well, we all knew that it would happen eventually, but the time has come. Sister Katelyn Schwanke and I are companions! How funny is that!? We all knew it would have to happen...the circumstances were just too crazy to NOT be companions. People think it is crazy when they learn that we were friends before the mission, that we were both studying nursing at BYU together for 3 years and then how both of our mission calls got switched from San Diego to Kirtland, just days from each other. Plus we have like all the same friends and know the same people and so it's been a lot of fun. Now here we are, a year out, and we are finally companions. It is happening at just the right time. It's hard to describe how this transfer feels. There is this intense feeling in the air, but in a really great way. We both feel like things are about to take off here in Mayfield. I wish I knew how to describe it. We both feel really at peace about this transfer and very very excited. And we have been working really really hard. Not that we weren't before, but we both feel an extra rush of adrenaline in a sense. It's amazing to see how much Heavenly Father is involved in this companionship and in this area and everything is starting to line up and we can see all kinds of miracles happen. In fact, just since Thursday night, we found 3 new investigators, set 2 additional baptismal dates, and received 5 referrals...two from members and three from our investigators. It has been such a miracle :)
One of the referrals we received was from a member in our ward. Sister Mayer and I had met with her a few weeks back and talked with her about inviting her 12 year old granddaughter to come to church. The granddaughter, Heaven, came to church on Sunday and she loved it! She also came to Young Womens on Tuesday night and we got a voicemail from Sister Ellison Tuesday night. "Hello sisters. We have a pretty serious situation. My granddaughter Heaven has said she would like to be baptized." uhhh...!! I think that is a pretty awesome situation! haha. She came to church again on Sunday and was really fellowshipped by the young women, again. She fits right in. We taught her after church on Sunday and set a baptismal date for July 22. She was so happy :) Sister Ellison asked us to follow them home and then we went in and met Heaven's mom. Sister Ellison asked the mom, LaTonya, to meet with us. LaTonya said that she knows that she really needs to start coming to church, because she hasn't been in years, and she invited us to come over tomorrow and teach her and her family :) We are really excited to start teaching them. Their family really needs the gospel. We love them already.
Well I love you all and I am so glad that you are doing well :) Have an amazing week! Enjoy the last days of June...already. haha.
Sister Maughan
