"Help us to face with cheerfulness the opposition of our fatigue"

Those were the words that Sister Schwanke used in one of our prayers one morning, because we are SO TIRED!! All the time. I don't know what it is, but somehow, this transfer, both of our bodies are just shutting down. ....Getting...so....tired.... But it's okay! We still go and do! We work hard and by the end of the day, we're usually wide awake and unable to fall asleep, haha. What a cruel cycle. Missions really wear you out good.

This week was a pretty good week with everything going on. On Thursday night, we got to go to "This Is Kirtland" with Heaven. She's doing great! She loved the play and really felt the spirit during it. Plus, she is really connecting with the Young Women in the ward and that fellowship is key for her. She came to church yesterday in a dress and she was all embarrassed to be wearing a dress, but she looked so pretty :) We're going to have to move her baptismal date back a bit because we are teaching her at a slower pace and are teaching her mother, LaTonya at the same time, but we're planning on a date for the beginning of August. Keisha is doing well too. She has a testimony of the gospel and knows it is true, but gets really attached to missionaries, so we were a bit worried when Sister Mayer left. Thankfully, it's not too bad this time around. She didn't come to church yesterday because she slept in (which is quite a feat considering church is at 12:30 pm...) but she's doing well, nonetheless.

I had a great birthday this week! Sis. Schwanke had decorated the apartment so it would be a celebration when I woke up, so that was really sweet of her. We weekly planned for the morning (yay....) but then the Gervasi girls came and "surprised" me at the apartment and we went to Panera for lunch. They are the funniest girls! We had a great time, and I'll definitely have to send pictures when I bring my camera next time. We had appointments all afternoon, and then went to Messegees for dinner/birthday party! Mom, you did a good job coordinating with Sister Messegee, hehe. We had a great dinner, homemade cheesecake with raspberries (YUM YUM!) and then opened up those DELICIOUS cookies you had sent! They were great mom. Thanks :) Then we headed to the play with Heaven and it was a great way to end the birthday :) Thank you so much for everything!

Speaking of birthdays, Emma Smith's birthday was yesterday! So the community put on the annual Emma Hymn Festival yesterday in honor of her! It was held in the Kirtland Temple and was neat to learn more about her and to sing some of the hymns that she wrote, or to commemorate her life. I've really gained an amazing appreciation for Joseph Smith and his wife Emma and everything they sacrificed. It is always an awesome experience when we get to sing in the temple :)
Well, in the words of Sister Schwanke via post-it note in my scriptures, "I yove you yots and yots", and I will talk to you next week! Love you all!

Your favorite 22 year old missionary,
Sister Maughan
