"I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve!"

Dear Family,

Sister Park said that to me on Friday night when we were talking about General Conference. How true it is! haha. I loved conference! Eric said that conference is so much more exciting as a missionary, and that definitely is true. When President Monson got up in the Sunday afternoon session and said that the conference was over, I turned to Sister D and gave her a sad pouty face, haha. But really, it was wonderful! I would have to say I had a lot of favorites (but mom, you know that about me, everything is my favorite song and favorite movie haha) but I would have to say Elder Christofferson's talk on living a consecrated life was definitely way up there. And President Uchtdorf's talk on simplicity. AND Elder Bednar's talk on the Spirit. oh man. I couldn't pick. I loved it all. We also had two investigators watch conference with us, so that was fantastic. I think they both enjoyed it.

It's been a good week in Chardon. It sounds like NY is having a beautiful fall, so it's no surprise that autumn here is stunning as well! Probably another week or two until the peak, but it's still beautiful...but chilly! It's also been raining a ton. Which makes tracting SO much fun in the cold rain. Okay, maybe not. Yesterday Sister D and I did a couple hours of tracting and I did a great job keeping myself dry...until I stepped in a dog bowl filled with water hahaha. The gracefulness of Sister Maughan continues!

The missionary work is definitely picking up. We have progressing investigators that are legitimately progressing, and tender mercies are happening almost daily. It's much needed and much appreciated. We have a goal of having a baptism this month and we're working to make happen, but we still have a long way to go. Say your prayers!

I cannot believe another transfer is just about over. Tomorrow the mission president decides on transfers, and Sunday we'll find out who is going. I'm not sure what is going to happen. I'm pretty sure I'll stay in Chardon for at least another transfer, and I think Sister Debenham will be staying too, but every once in a while we will both feel that there may be a change, that she might be going. Guess you'll find out next email! (Speaking of which, p-day is Tuesday because transfers are Wednesday, so mark your calendar!)

Well here's your funny story for the day: Sister D and I were tracting in Middlefield (the Amish country) the other day around sunset. Now, I like to make sure that I always wave to cars that drive past, so when I saw two buggys getting ready to pass us, I decided to wave to them too. The first buggy passed us, and it was two Amish teenage boys and they waved back politely. Then the second buggy passed, and it was two more teenage boys, only when I waved to them, they both stuck their heads out of the buggy and whistled and howled after us! I couldn't help but laugh SO much! There's just something ironic about two Amish boys cat calling two Mormon sister missionaries. hahaha. Maybe that story is one of those "you had to be there" stories, but I'm betting Millie and Abby would appreciate it anyway :)

On that spiritual highlight...
Craig- how is junior year going? Are you already deep into the stress of trying to figure out your future? Probably not. You're already grown up, so it's no big deal to you :) What have you been up to in your spare time? Are you doing lots of tennis? Oh wait. Mom just told me you are doing some tournament. That's sweet! You excited?!
Scott- Guess what!?! You'd be so proud. I'm running every morning! That's right. Mile and a half baby. We'll race sometime when we're both home from our missions...in 2 1/2 years. Don't get too upset when I lap you. But I'm basically a speed demon now. Oh no wait, it's my heart rate that's a speed demon, my bad. haha just kidding. I'm pretty good. How's life at the Y? Have you enjoyed life at the testing center? What a life, man. Tell me about xc and track! I don't know anything about collegiate track! p.s. I heard "the man who can't be moved" at a restaurant yesterday and almost cried I missed you so much. haha. I then proceeded to sing it to my companion for the next 18 hours and it's still in my head now. ohhhh boy.
Eric- How be the biking? Whenever I tell anyone that my brother is biking across the country, they're in awe. And it's mostly only sisters. I thought you'd be glad to hear that, mostly because we all know that's the REAL reason you are biking :) Just kidding. I'm excited to hear about your trip! Stay safe!
Mom- I guess I'm talking to you right now, but that's awesome about the home videos!  That would be hilarious to watch! Definitely a movie marathon next Christmas.
Dad- okay, I got your postcards from Houston and Romania on the same day and I laughed myself sick! They were so funny! "Here's what I didn't see in Romania." "Let me tell you all the fun things about Houston....Love, Dad" hahaha. I loved both the postcards! All the sisters here have decided I am going to make a collage of all the postcards that have been sent to me since being on my mission. I'm thinking I could make a wallpaper. I love it! Love you dad!

Well, I love you all and I really appreciate all the thoughts and prayers! Love you and miss you so much. Talk to you next Tuesday!

Love,
Sister Maughan

p.s. whoa, I just re-read the email and there were sure a lot of "love"s in there, haha, especially the last little bit. Guess you must know I love you!
