Well, we are a week into transfers now and I'm glad that Sister Carey was able to tell you where I have been transferred to. I am currently serving in South Euclid (Craig, I'm embarrassed to say I didn't get your geography joke!) but a lot of my area takes in the city of Cleveland. I am DEFINITELY working the ghetto. haha. It's amazing the diversity I've run into on my mission thus far, from Amish to the slums. It's a good area though, and I am enjoying myself.
Yes, it is true that I am in a triple up companionship. It's very weird being with TWO other people all the time, and it makes it interesting when teaching. Sometimes I really feel like missions were meant for twos, but because of the odd numbers of sisters serving in Kirtland right now, we are the lucky ones in a trio! I am serving with Sister Wattles and Sister Everson. And just to really mix things up from the rest of my mission, I did not come out with either of these sisters, nor will I be with them for their birthdays! haha. Pattern broken. They have both been out for almost 14 months and are both very experienced as missionaries. Sister Everson and I are both transplants back into the Kirtland zone, because she has been out serving full proselyting since October in a city called Norwalk. Thankfully Sister Wattles knows what she is doing in this area and is showing us the ropes.
Along with the transfer comes the change of home, and now I am living in Hyrum Smith's original home, right across the street from the Kirtland Temple. It's neat to be living there. It's a party with the 7 sisters who call that home now. Well, 8 sisters, if you count the ghost of Jerusha Smith, Hyrum's wife, who haunts the halls haha.
I now am at Kirtland almost every day of the week for half a day. That's a little rough because even though it has been warming up a lot, we still aren't getting tours, so it makes a long day on the phones. But spring is right around the corner and things are going to start picking up quickly, I'm sure.
Well, this is the exciting life of Sister Maughan. She's currently winning the award for most change in a mission: change of call, change of language, change of entry date, and then once you get to the mission, 3 areas and 7 companions in just under 8 months. Woohoo! Bring it.
I love you all! Thanks for your prayers.
Sister Maughan
