Well it is officially a record breaking year for the amount of rain in Cleveland. It's all everyone is talking about. It's funny when we go to anyone's home and they ask where we are from, everyone turns to my companion, Ms. Houston, and tells her it's okay! The rain will eventually stop! It's pretty funny. I personally LOVE the rain, while Sis. Mayer absolutely loves sunlight. Good thing I think I want to end up living in the Northwest US --good ol' rain! :)
We have had some really great experiences with some of our investigators this week. Nick is still progressing which is fantastic. We taught him the Plan of Salvation this week, and he really loved that. Unfortunately, at the very end of the lesson, he casually mentioned that he was moving this week and our hearts sank... He is moving to Strongsville, which is not far from where we are, but outside our borders. :( Last night we had a fireside on prayer at the Visitor's Center that Nick came to. We had coordinated with the Strongsville elders and they came to it as well, and so we introduced them to each other and that was that. We are going to teach Nick once more this week then he's over there. But it's going to be good. Elder Rangel (an elder I came out with who is from Venezuela) is great for Nick. In fact, I'm pretty sure that today they are all going to work out together haha. I'm insulted Nick didn't want to work out with us! Just kidding :)
In other exciting news, have I told you about Ben? Ben is 21 years old,and his best friend is on a mission right now in California. He is a referral from a member I served with when I was in South Euclid. Ben is Jewish, but he has really been recognizing a lot of truth in what we are teaching. He is VERY intellectually minded, which really keeps me on my toes, but I really enjoy answering his questions because with his mind, I know that the answers given are definitely not from me! We found out from his member fellowshipper that he has been reading the Book of Mormon and praying everyday! I told our zone leader and he said "Wow. I knew the Book of Mormon was for the convincing of the Jew and Gentile, but it's hard to get them to read!" haha. It's going to be a slow process with Ben, but we're getting there and seeing progression.
We had Stake Conference this week, which was the broadcast from Salt Lake. It's interesting to realize that you will all be having the same Stake conference as me. The joy of serving your mission just hours from your family! I won't give anything away then, but you're in for an awesome treat :) We went to the adult session of conference on Saturday night and our stake president said something that I really liked. I think a lot of times, and especially as a missionary, we all feel inadequate and that there are so many flaws that we have and so much that has to be done to improve. But President Haymond said "view your life in the light of possibility and not feel dread for our shortcomings". I loved that. I'm really trying to have the right attitude about that. We should be so excited for the possibility to improve, and not feel dread because we have so much to improve on.
Well, I have a feeling we have a long hard week ahead of us, so pray hard! I love you so much and talk to you next week!
Love,
Sister Maughan
